FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS |
|
| Q: | What percentage of my gift will go to helping the women, children and families? |
| A: | 92%. Fully 114 of our 120 staff work directly with the women and children. Six staff members handle program management, finance, development, communications, personnel, computers and administration. As a result, we are able to keep our fund-raising expenses to just 8%. |
| Q: | Do you need donations of appliances, cars, cell phones, clothing, food, furniture, office equipment, toiletries, toys or any other items? |
| A: | No. We already have long-standing relationships with organizations that provide the material items we need. What the women and children need most is the skilled attention of trained social workers, therapists, job counselors and educators. With your financial donation, you can help provide that. |
| Q: | Are you affiliated with any other House of Ruth? |
| A: | No. We provide services only in the District of Columbia and are not affiliated with any other organization called House of Ruth. |
| Q: | My organization wants to raise money for House of Ruth. How do we proceed? |
| A: | Thank you for joining the many groups that organize benefits and fund-raising drives to help the women, children and families at House of Ruth! Please send an e-mail to houseofruth@houseofruth.org describing your idea for raising money. We’ll review it (to make sure you aren’t inadvertently proposing something that doesn’t fit with our mission) and be glad to send you information about House of Ruth for your use. Our staff stays very focused on their work with the women, children and families (and our administrative staff is very small), so we usually can’t provide a person to participate in the many fund-raising activities held on our behalf. |
| Q: | Where can I learn about job openings at House of Ruth? |
| A: | Any openings are advertised in The Washington Post Sunday employment section. |
