VOLUNTEERS

____ The women and children at House of Ruth need long-term, consistent relationships.  Therefore, House of Ruth does not offer any short-term volunteer opportunities and cannot serve as a site to fulfill a community service obligation.

____ The only volunteers we need are mentors for the children.  The mentors develop healthy, positive relationships with vulnerable children, ages 6 to teens.  Mentors must commit to spending two to three hours per weekend with a child for a minimum of one year.   To be eligible, you must be 22 or older, submit an application and undergo a criminal background check.  Training and support are provided by a senior case manager.  Regular communication with our Mentor Coordinator is required.

____ To become a mentor, send an e-mail with the Subject Heading -- Mentors -- to houseofruth@houseofruth.org.  Please include your name and telephone contact information as well as the best time to reach you.  Our Mentor Coordinator will be in touch to discuss the feasibility of your candidacy.
