During last year’s holiday season, the families at House of Ruth were blessed with holiday presents by our generous donors through the Adopt-A-Family program. We’ve witnessed so many wonderful connections and heartwarming stories through the holiday program, and we want to highlight the generosity of Ace Hardware Stores.
House of Ruth board member and owner of the Washington DC region’s Ace Hardware Stores Gina Schaefer adopted House of Ruth’s entire Families First I program, with the help of their shoppers through their Make Change with Change campaign. Through this campaign, shoppers could elect to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar and donate the change to House of Ruth.
Over 6,900 shoppers participated in the campaign, resulting in $3,501.47 – raised just from spare change! One of Gina’s friends and their 7-year-old daughter also helped adopt the families at the Families First I program, as a way to give back during the giving season. In Gina’s words, “It was such a pleasure to get my stores involved in raising money for one of my favorite organizations this holiday season. Our customers were very generous in their giving for the House of Ruth adoption program!”
The generosity continues: Ace Hardware Stores are now fundraising for House of Ruth’s Kidspace program from today to Valentine’s Day (Feb. 7-14), so stop in to a local Ace Hardware Store to contribute to House of Ruth!
