The Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund (SALDEF) hosts an annual meal/event on Capitol Hill, and a service event to help a DC-based nonprofit. This year, they chose House of Ruth as the benefactor of their good deed. In addition to being able to listen to three U.S. Congress Members and a U.S. Senator address the group, Elizabeth Kiker, House of Ruth’s development director, spoke about the importance of the work we do at House of Ruth, and the value of the support SALDEF is giving House of Ruth. In return, they donated enough detergent and dryer sheets to help families living at House of Ruth complete 1,000 loads of laundry (a very high number that gets washed almost every month at our shelters!). We are very appreciative of this partnership, and of donations to help House of Ruth. To see a list of our current needs, click here.
