“I never imagined I’d be here—sober, stable, and getting ready to bring my son into the world.”
When Marie entered House of Ruth’s Three Sisters housing program for single women in 2022, she was focused on survival. She had experienced trauma and struggled with substance use.
At House of Ruth, Marie found the support she needed to begin healing from the mental health challenges caused by years of trauma. During this period of growth and reflection, Marie learned she was pregnant.
With a baby boy on the way, Marie faced one of the biggest transitions of her life. With the support of House of Ruth, she met the moment with courage. Through our programs and services, Marie fully overcame substance use, secured employment, and remained engaged in mental health counseling through our Domestic Violence Support Center.
As Marie’s pregnancy progressed, House of Ruth staff coordinated her transition from a single site housing program to a family housing program. The ability to keep Marie within the House of Ruth programs ensured that she would not experience a gap in services or care. This summer, she moved into her fully furnished apartment in the family housing program—giving her time to prepare her home for her baby boy due in September.
With stable housing, therapy, job support, and wraparound services, Marie is entering motherhood with everything she needs.
Because of you, Marie built a loving foundation for herself and her son.
Thank you for making her journey possible.
