Kidspace

Kidspace is a nationally accredited child and family development center that provides high-quality care to parents in need at no-cost to them. Through Kidspace, House of Ruth’s goal is to assist children and parents in overcoming obstacles to long-term stability and autonomy while developing their potential through building on strengths.

Who Qualifies for the Child & Family Development Center?

To enroll your child in House of Ruth’s Kidspace program, you must:

  • Be a resident of Washington, DC
  • Be willing to meet regularly with your child’s teachers and a Family Engagement Specialist
  • Be eligible for Head Start and/or DC Child Care Subsidy
  • Have a child who is between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years old

 

You do not need to be:

  • Participating in other House of Ruth programs/services

What Does the Application Process Look Like?

  1. Parent(s) come in for an intake session that includes a meeting and tour
    • Parent(s) must bring the following to the intake session:
      • completed Health Certificate and Registration Forms,
      • proof of income,
      • SNAP ID or TANF ID,
      • child’s birth certificate and medical card,
      • and proof of residence in Washington, DC.
  2. Parent(s) must obtain a child care subsidy
  3. The start date will be set as soon as possible after intake is completed
  4. Parent(s) must be present for the first half-day of the child’s attendance to ensure a smooth transition

Kidspace’s hours of operation are:

Monday – Friday 7:45 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
