In March, we had the privilege of welcoming Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the French National Assembly, along with French delegates and staff, to one of House of Ruth’s family housing program sites in Washington, D.C.
As a leader engaged in advancing protections for women in France, President Braun-Pivet made it a priority to meet with the House of Ruth team and see our work firsthand.
Our President & CEO Sandra Jackson, alongside program leadership and staff, shared what trauma-informed care looks like in practice. We talked about the foundation of our approach: safe housing, counseling, childcare, and case management. Together, these services create the conditions for women and children to move from crisis toward stability.
President Braun-Pivet and her delegation toured an apartment in our family housing program, offering a glimpse into the spaces where healing begins.

Visits like this remind us that while our work is rooted here in Washington, D.C., the need, and the commitment to supporting survivors, extends far beyond any one community.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to exchange ideas and share best practices with leaders who are equally committed to strengthening systems of care for women and families around the world.
Special thanks to President Braun-Pivet, Christopher Weissberg, Caroline Monvoisin, and their staff for taking the time to engage with our team and learn more about this work.
