April is National Volunteer Month and at House of Ruth, we’re shining a light on a special kind of volunteer: the ones who show up not just with hours to give, but with gift bags, school supplies, and essentials.
When you’ve had to leave everything behind to find safety, the basics like soap, diapers, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products aren’t small. They’re everything.
That’s why in-kind donation drives matter. Donations of essential items don’t just meet immediate needs—they lift an invisible weight off survivors’ shoulders. More than just the item itself, in-kind donations represent the love and support of a neighbor to a neighbor.
House of Ruth’s generous community—your community—donated thousands of items with a total estimated value of over $150,000 in 2024!
What does that look like? Over 90 backpacks filled with school supplies. Over 1,000 toys and gifts for the holiday season. Hundreds of gallons of laundry detergent. Dozens of bedding and towel sets for apartments. A mountain of diapers, pull-ups, and wipes.
